There is much confusion about NSO and PSO. The Philippine Statistical Act was enacted in 2013 by the late president Benigno Aquino. This created the Philippine Statistics Authority, which combined the National Statistics Office (NSO), National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES), and Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS) (PSA).
The merger became PSA, the country’s central statistical authority. The PSA now issues all civil registration documents, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, and CENOMAR.
Is the NSO Birth Certificate still valid?
Absolutely. As PSA previously clarified in a news release, the National Statistics Office (NSO) birth certificate that was issued before the merger has no expiration date and is still a legitimate document. The PSA continues to provide the same birth certificate. The logo is the only distinction between birth certificates issued by PSA and NSO.
